Saint Ann
Feast Day: July 26
Name Means: gracious one; grace (= Anne)
Saint Ann is the Mother of Our Lady, the Grandmother of Jesus Christ, and wife of Saint Joachim. Tradition says that Ann was quite elderly when Mary was born, and that Mary was the only child of Joachim and Ann. It is believed that Ann had given Mary to the service of the Temple when Mary was three years old. Devotion to Saint Ann has been popular in the East from the very early days of the Church. Widespread devotion in the West began in the 16th century, but many shrines have developed since.

Good Saint Ann, you were especially favored by God to be the mother of the most holy Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Savior. By your power with your most pure daughter and with her divine Son, kindly obtain for us the grace and the favor we now seek. Please secure for us also forgiveness of our past sins, the strength to perform faithfully our daily duties and the help we need to persevere in the love of your Grandson, Jesus, and your daughter, Mary. Amen.
